Hello to all from Myrle and all of us at As A Crow Flies!

I wanted to share with you the most yummy quesadilla recipe I made up the other day. Healthy and scrumptious.

Most of us think of mexican immediately when it is mentioned but actually a quesadilla is a flour tortilla or a corn tortilla filled with a savoury mixture containing cheese and other ingredients. Here is what I pulled out of the fridge to use. I layered it in the order below on a 10" flour tortilla.
Pesto - My favorite spread for anything.
Fiesta Blend Grated Cheese - Without the taco seasoning added.
Lean Deli Turkey - I like the ones that do not add preservatives.
Vine Ripened Tomatoe - Sliced thinly.
Mild canned green chili - had to add as they were left overs and needed using up!  2T
Fiesta Blend Grated Cheese - Without the taco seasoning added.
And topped with another tortilla. Below picture shows before the top is added.
Turn your stove burner on to medium low heat and do not add oil to the pan before you begin stacking. First layer of cheese will start to melt as you stack. You want the ingredients to meld together and the low heat will allow this without burning your tortilla. Keep an eye on it and adjust heat as needed.  When you can feel the top tortilla begin to get warm to the touch, very carefully turn to heat the other side completely and melt all the cheese. I think the total cooking time was about 10-15 minutes.  Remove from pan, cut into pie wedges and serve with a dollop of sour cream.  It was enough lunch for two so if you are making it for one, simply stack only one half of a shell and fold it instead of topping it with the second tortilla.

Presentation wasn't the best but the flavor more than made up for it! Bon Appetit!
I am looking forward to the new year and what it has in store for us. Stay tuned.

12 Little Wools ~ The Woolie Series is here!

I wanted to share with you my first Block of the Month.  It has been an exciting adventure.  As a designer I usually work on one pattern at a time.  Having to work 12 at the same proved to be challenging, more in the pattern writing portion than the actual designs. The stitching was delightful, my favorite part!

Each month has a combination of wool applique and embroidery and is embellished with hand made porcelain buttons.  Each of the little blocks has one common black backing and they can be attached each month.  The adorable black table top stand was designed specifically for this project and has an opening 7" x 7" with an additional 2" space for longer projects.  Both the buttons and the stand are made in the USA!

January is ready for ordering!

Hope your holidays are filled with family, friends and warm memories!

I was just reminded that my blog hadn't been updated since 2011. The saying, "time flies when you are having fun" must be true! Actually since opening the shop, and still continuing the amount of shows we are still doing, the days and weeks slip by seemingly without notice. It isn't intentional that I ignore this part of me.  I will promise all of you one thing...................... hmmmmmm...................... yes just one thing. In the coming days before the new year I am going to take some time to seriously look at the way that I can reshuffle my life to accomodate the things that really count.

Writing is one of them. Ever since I was a young child I loved the way words would fall off my tongue as I read.  I loved the challenge of spinning a story around a topic someone else chose for me, regardless of whether or not it interested me. I loved laying in bed with my children when they were young and make up stories for them as they fell asleep.  Just to be asked the next night, "What did the country bug do next, mom"?  I loved pouring my emotions into poetry that reflected the world around me and the world within.

So this year I am going to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard, or both) and begin that book that my husband has been bugging me to write for years.  Each month I will endeavor to post a snipet as I go.  It isn't like I haven't thought about it and what I might add.  It will be an adventure.  Come along with me and lets see where this road will lead!

Thanks for visiting with us for a brief moment!  Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.
